Royal Experts Reveal Prince George’s Childhood Will Break Tradition for a More Normal Upbringing
Prince William and Kate Middleton are determined to provide their children with a more normal upbringing, especially when it comes to Prince George, according to royal experts. Unlike King Charles III, who had much of his childhood and future planned by politicians, courtiers, and advisers, George will have more freedom to make his own decisions as he grows up.
Royal commentator Richard Dampier explained that William and Kate want George, as well as his younger siblings Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, to experience a childhood that is not overshadowed by royal duties. “They were adamant that they wanted him, Charlotte, and Louis to have as normal an upbringing as possible and not to be burdened by his future destiny,” Dampier shared.
In contrast to King Charles, whose education and experiences were meticulously arranged by royal committees, George will have a different journey. King Charles was sent to various schools, served in the armed forces, and even spent time at a college in Australia as part of his royal preparation. However, none of these predetermined paths will be set for George. Instead, William and Kate will guide him as he makes his own choices about his future.
Dampier emphasized that as George gets older, his parents will support him in finding his path. “Their attitude is very much to give him the tools to decide his direction, not force him into things he doesn’t want to do,” he said.
While George will need to eventually accept his royal responsibilities, the goal is to ensure that he isn’t overwhelmed by them. With a strong foundation and his parents’ guidance, George is expected to grow into his role at his own pace.
