On her LinkedIn page, Sadanandan defines herself as a lawyer and seasoned campaign strategist with expertise in Strategy and Public Policy Consulting, specifically in the areas of Criminal Justice Reform and Racial Equity. In 2020, she played a pivotal role as a senior policy adviser during Biden’s election campaign. However, following Biden’s victory, it was customary for campaign staff like Sadanandan to not transition into the administration.

Prior to her involvement in Biden’s campaign, Sadanandan served as the Managing Director of Government Affairs/State Campaigns at the Alliance for Safety and Justice, a multi-state organization committed to replacing over-incarceration with more effective public safety solutions centered around crime prevention, community health, rehabilitation, and support for crime victims. She also held the position of criminal justice director at the American Civil Liberties Union of the Nation’s Capital (ACLU-NCA). Additionally, Sadanandan spent two years in Karnataka, India, working as an organizer for an agricultural workers’ labor union called Jagrutha Mahila Sanghatane.

Sadanandan pursued her legal education at American University in Washington DC and completed her undergraduate studies in sociology at Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana.
