Selena Gomez achieved a major milestone, officially becoming one of the world’s youngest self-made female billionaires. At the same time, she opened up about a deeply personal challenge: she cannot have children.

Born in Grand Prairie, Texas, Selena was raised by her teenage single mother, who inspired her to pursue acting. By the age of seven, Selena landed her first role on Barney & Friends. She quickly rose to fame in her teens through Disney’s Wizards of Waverly Place, becoming a household name. Shortly after, Selena ventured into music, launching global tours and earning a dedicated fan base.

In 2020, she founded Rare Beauty, a makeup line that emphasizes self-acceptance and mental health, with a portion of the proceeds supporting these causes. Her public life was soaring, but behind the scenes, Selena faced immense struggles. She battled lupus and faced mental health challenges, undergoing a kidney transplant in 2017 and enduring public scrutiny over her appearance.

By 2022, Selena opened up about the depth of her mental health struggles, sharing that she had spent years contemplating suicide. Since then, she has taken strides in her recovery, growing her brand to become one of the leading cosmetics companies for young men and women. Last week, she reached a historic achievement by becoming a billionaire.

Rather than celebrating this achievement with extravagance, Selena chose to share her struggle with infertility, a reality for millions around the world. With infertility rates rising, many suffer in silence. Selena’s courage in sharing her experience is a powerful reminder that even in success, challenges remain.

By opening up, Selena is a voice for countless women facing similar battles. Kudos to Selena for her strength and vulnerability. The world needs more voices like hers.
