Smt. Draupadi Murmu, the Honorable Governor of Jharkhand, is all set to attend the Karunanidhi centenary celebrations and inaugurate a hospital in Chennai. Born on 20th June 1958 in a tribal family in Odisha, Smt. Murmu completed her schooling from a local government school. Later, she obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Arts from Rairangpur College in Odisha. She then pursued a Master’s degree in Political Science from Utkal University, Odisha.

Smt. Murmu began her political career as a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). She served as a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) from Odisha from 2000 to 2004. In 2014, she was elected as a Member of Parliament (MP) from Mayurbhanj constituency in Odisha. She was also a member of several parliamentary committees.

In 2015, Smt. Murmu was appointed as the first female Governor of Jharkhand. She has been actively working towards the development of the state ever since. She has taken several initiatives to promote education, healthcare, and women’s empowerment. Under her leadership, Jharkhand has made significant progress in various sectors.

The inauguration of the hospital in Chennai is another feather in Smt. Murmu’s cap. The hospital is expected to provide state-of-the-art healthcare facilities to the people of Tamil Nadu. It will also serve as a model for other states in the country.
