As Singles’ Day approaches on November 11, celebrated globally as a day for single individuals to revel in their independence, online travel agency Agoda has unveiled the top three solo travel destinations for Indians. Originating as “Bachelor’s Day” at China’s Nanjing University in 1993, Singles’ Day has evolved into a celebration of solo status, marked by self-gifting and social gatherings.

Embarking on a solo journey is considered a profound gift, offering opportunities to explore diverse cultures, forge new friendships, and reconnect with the global community. Krishna Rathi, the Country Director for India, Sri Lanka, and the Maldives at Agoda, emphasizes that venturing out alone often requires stepping out of one’s comfort zone but leads to the creation of exceptional memories.

Agoda’s survey reveals that within the Asia Pacific region, the top three solo travel destinations are Tokyo, Japan (first), Bangkok, Thailand (second), and Seoul, South Korea (third). For Indian solo travelers, the preferred destinations are:

1. Bangkok, Thailand: Renowned for being one of the most accessible destinations for solo travelers worldwide, Bangkok welcomes individuals on any budget. The city, home to the hostel-packed Kao San Road, attracts backpackers seeking new connections. With friendly locals and fellow solo travelers abundant, exploring attractions like the Grand Palace, the Chatuchak weekend market, and the vibrant alleys of Chinatown becomes an enriching experience.

2. Dubai, United Arab Emirates: Securing the second spot, Dubai’s dazzling skyline captivates solo adventurers with an array of activities. From shopping extravaganzas in malls and bazaars to dune bashing in the desert, the city offers an endless list of experiences. Solo travelers can visit the iconic Burj Khalifa, participate in quiz nights at local pubs, and unwind on the pristine beaches after a day of exploration.

3. Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia: Known for its warm hospitality, Kuala Lumpur emerges as a haven for solo adventurers. The city’s blend of modern skyscrapers and historical treasures caters to diverse interests. Vibrant street food stalls, bustling markets, and the iconic Petronas Twin Towers provide ample daytime exploration opportunities. In the evenings, making new connections is effortless amid the lively nightlife scene in Changkat Bukit Bintang.
