Transgender Lawyer Kalki Subramaniam Promotes Inclusion in the Legal Profession
Kalki Subramaniam, a transgender lawyer and activist, is advocating for greater inclusion of transgender individuals in the legal profession in India. In a recent LinkedIn post, she shared her experience of speaking at a Bar Council of India conference and urged the legal community to
embrace diversity.
Subramaniam highlighted the challenges that transgender people face in accessing education and employment opportunities, which often lead to discrimination and exclusion. She also noted the lack of legal protections for transgender individuals in India and the need for greater representation in the legal profession.
Despite these obstacles, Subramaniam has become a successful lawyer and a voice for the transgender community. She has founded an organization called Sahodari Foundation, which provides support and
advocacy for transgender individuals, and has been recognized for her work with numerous awards and accolades.
In her post, Subramaniam called on the legal community to create a more welcoming and inclusive environment for transgender individuals. She emphasized the importance of education and awareness in
breaking down stereotypes and promoting understanding.
