Valerie Bertinelli reveals weight loss
There are numerous factors that can make weight loss challenging, including diet, environment, exercise habits, and mindset. Sometimes, addressing just one factor can make a difference, while other times, a combination of several factors is necessary. Learning from others’ experiences can be valuable in identifying what’s holding you back. Recently, Valerie Bertinelli, 60, shared her weight loss journey, highlighting the importance of mindset.
Valerie Bertinelli has been a public figure since her 20s, and her weight has fluctuated over the years. She lost over 40 pounds following her 2022 divorce from Tom Vitale. In an interview with the Washington Post, Valerie revealed that her success came from changing her mindset. “What wasn’t working for me was living my life by a number,” she explained. “Because no matter what that number was, it wasn’t going to be good enough.”
Valerie realized that emotional eating was a significant barrier for her. “If I try to push it away, shove it away, eat it away, the feeling’s not going to go anywhere,” she said. She understood that addressing the root of her emotions was crucial, rather than using food as a distraction. “It’s not the food that’s bad for us,” she noted. “It’s how, or why, we’re eating it. If we’re eating it unconsciously, if we’re eating it to soothe an emotion.”
Now, Valerie has a new perspective on health that focuses on self-acceptance and emotional well-being. Earlier this year, she posted a throwback bikini photo from a decade ago, captioned: “2014 #tbt. This is a 150lb body on a 5’4″ frame. I don’t weigh myself anymore because this is considered overweight by whose standards I don’t know. It’s stupid and I believed them for far too long.”
“I now, finally,” she continued, “know that I am a kind, considerate, funny, thoughtful woman.” She encouraged her followers to move away from focusing on numbers: “Health is not a body size. Health is not the number you see on the scale. Your worth as a human being isn’t dictated by your body.” Valerie’s journey emphasizes that true health and happiness come from a positive mindset and self-acceptance.
