Vidya Balan Takes on Murder Mystery in ‘Neeyat’

Bollywood star Vidya Balan is set to captivate audiences with her upcoming film “Neeyat,” where she transforms into a detective to solve a classic murder mystery.
Prior to the launch of the trailer, the makers unveiled a brief yet enigmatic 17-second teaser, offering a glimpse of Vidya Balan’s character. The teaser announces the arrival of suspects and the formation of motives, teasing viewers with the impending mystery. Additionally, 11 posters introducing the film’s key characters, including Vidya Balan, have been released, intensifying the intrigue surrounding the plot.
“Neeyat” presents a classic murder mystery, following the journey of detective Mira Rao, portrayed by Vidya Balan. As circumstances push her to become an unlikely investigator, she delves into a murder that takes place during a billionaire’s party. The story unfolds as tensions rise, with appearances proving to be deceiving and secrets lurking beneath the surface.
The film features an ensemble cast, including Ram Kapoor as billionaire Ashish Kapoor, Rahul Bose as banker Jimmy Mistry, and Shahana Goswami as billionaire Lisa. Niki Walia essays the role of a tarot card reader, adding to the array of intriguing personalities in the film.
Directed and co-written by Anu Menon, who previously collaborated with Vidya Balan in “Shakuntala Devi” (2020), “Neeyat” promises an ever-evolving chain of motives, with each suspect harboring their own dark secrets. The film, produced by Abundantia Entertainment and Prime Video, will release theatrically on July 7, 2023.
Expressing her excitement about the project, Vidya Balan shared her joy in portraying Detective Mira Rao, a character unlike any she has played before. She also expressed her enthusiasm for working with the talented ensemble cast and collaborating with director Anu Menon for the second time.
