Sandra Davis K, a 22-year-old from Thrissur, Kerala, has earned a spot in India’s inaugural women’s cricket team for visually impaired players at the upcoming World Games by the International Blind Sports Federation in Birmingham. With just 20% vision, Sandra’s selection follows closely after Minnu Mani’s international debut. The 16-member squad’s training camp begins on August 8 in Bengaluru, and Sandra, a second-year BEd student at NSS Training College in Ottapalam, expresses her excitement and gratitude for her family’s support in her training journey.

Determined from a young age to break stereotypes, Sandra’s passion for cricket ignited during a match she played with boys at the School for the Blind in Aluva. After joining the Cricket Association for the Blind in Kerala, she progressed to become the captain of the state’s women’s blind cricket team, which significantly boosted her self-confidence.
