In a significant move for women’s empowerment, the Madhya Pradesh government has entrusted women with the operation of three toll plazas managed by the Madhya Pradesh Road Development Corporation. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed with women self-help groups (SHGs) in the presence of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan at the CM’s residence in Bhopal.

These three toll plazas are located at Kayatha on the Ujjain-Maksi road in Ujjain district, Chachakhedi on the Shajapur Dupada Nalkheda road in Agar district, and Sanjay Nagar on the Malhera Chandla road in Chhatarpur district.

Chief Minister Chouhan expressed his confidence in the women’s ability to efficiently manage toll plazas, highlighting this as a significant example of women’s empowerment. He emphasized that women should work with enthusiasm, confidence, and positivity, showcasing their capabilities in all activities. The women involved in these self-help groups will receive 30 percent of the toll plaza revenue, and Chouhan expressed his hope that they would achieve great success.

Avinash Lavania, the Managing Director of the Madhya Pradesh Road Development Corporation, signed the MoU with the women from the SHGs. This initiative represents a remarkable step forward in advancing women’s participation and success in traditionally male-dominated roles.
