lavang latika

One of the best sweets that embody the opulent side of Indian cuisine is Lavang Latika or Lobongo Lotika. This rich and aromatic sweet is a popular Bengali sweet made after Durga Puja. As luxurious as the sweet sounds, it is comparatively easy to make at home.

To make Lavang Latika here are the ingredients that you need:

Refined Flour 1-1/2 cups
Cloves 10-12
Rose essence 1/4 teaspoon
Ghee 3-4 tbsps
Cashew Nuts roughly chopped 4-5
Almonds roughly chopped 4-5
Pistachios roughly chopped 4-5
Sugar dissolved in ½ cup water 1 cup

Recipe:

First, cook the sugar with ½ cup water, stirring, till you get a syrup-like consistency.

Add rose essence mix well and set aside.

Mix maida and ghee in a bowl, add a little water, and knead into a stiff dough.

Cover with a damp cloth and let it rest for about 15 minutes.

Heat enough ghee in a pan. Mix the dry nuts.

Divide into several equal portions. Roll out each portion into a puri.

Place one portion of the filling in the center of the puri, drizzle a little ghee, and fold in the sides so that they overlap each other. Secure with a clove.

Deep fry the lavang latikas till golden brown.

After that, drain and soak them in warm sugar syrup for 15 minutes.

Then take them out and serve hot.
