Mathrubhumi-supported Project Wins Gold at IAA Olive Crown Awards 2023 for Green Initiative

A Mathrubhumi-backed project has won the gold award in the new green initiative category at the IAA Olive Crown Awards 2023. The project, titled “Plastic Free Campus”, was carried out by the Mathrubhumi Printing and Publishing Company Limited in association with Kannur University. The project aimed to create a plastic-free campus by reducing plastic waste and promoting sustainable practices.

The IAA Olive Crown Awards, presented by the International Advertising Association (IAA) India Chapter, recognizes excellence in sustainable communication. The awards are given to campaigns and initiatives that promote sustainability and encourage positive change in society.

The “Plastic Free Campus” project implemented various measures to reduce plastic waste on the Kannur University campus. These included replacing plastic water bottles with stainless steel bottles, introducing compostable plates and cups, and setting up waste segregation and recycling facilities. The project also organized awareness campaigns and workshops to educate students and staff on the importance of sustainable practices.

Mathrubhumi Printing and Publishing Company Limited has been a strong advocate for sustainable practices and has launched various initiatives to promote sustainability. The company has also received several awards for its efforts in this regard. The “Plastic Free Campus” project is yet another step in the company’s journey towards a greener future.
