“Skilling Women will be a game changer for Indian Economy,” says, Anil Antony

Kochi, India: “India is now the 3rd largest digital economy in the world having over 1 lakh registered startups and 4 million jobs generated. There has been a lot of progress in our economy in the past few years due to the various enabling initiatives of our central government. However, despite all this, there seem to be certain facts that pull us behind. One of them is the lack of equal participation of women in the Indian labor force.

In this context, the works done by women organizations in the country and initiatives like Prayaana Labs are of great significance”, said Anil Antony while speaking as a Chief Guest at the Online Graduation ceremony of Prayaana Labs, held on Friday, April 28th. Anil later went on to tweet about this tagging the Indian PM, Narendra Modi about the initiative.

Ms. Suja Chandy, the MD of Zafin India who was also the Chief Guest, spoke about the necessity for women to continue learning at any age as well as the importance of having a support network. She commended the initiative for its unique approach in providing upskilling opportunities to women of all ages and backgrounds. She highlighted the ongoing gender imbalance in the workplace and the need for organizations to invest in diversity, equality, and inclusion. Chandy also emphasized the potential of hiring women who are on a career break and the importance of providing them with upskilling and mentoring opportunities.

She encouraged the graduates to embrace a growth mindset and pursue new opportunities, even if they are outside their comfort zone. On a personal note, Chandy shared her experience of taking a sabbatical and the value of investing in personal and professional growth. She expressed her delight at working with Zafin, an organization that aligns with her values and drives core modernization and transformation in the banking industry.
