Financial Independence: The Key Motivation for Working Women in Delhi

A new survey conducted by IndiaLends, an online marketplace for personal loans and credit cards, has revealed that working women in Delhi struggle with managing their finances. The #WorkingStree survey report, which covered 10,000 plus working women in the 21-65 age group residing in top metro, Tier-1 and Tier-2 cities, found that 47% of working women in the country’s capital find it difficult to keep a regular track of their expenses, while 37% of working women have never checked their credit score.

The survey further revealed that 67% of working women in Delhi contribute to their household expenses, with 31% of these women contributing over half of their income to their household. Financial freedom has been the biggest motivation for working women in Delhi, followed by the desire to be valuable and have self-confidence.

The survey also found that 32% of working women in Delhi find making financial decisions with regard to savings and investments complex. Many women rely on the guidance of their father, brother, or husband when making financial decisions.
