Taskeen Khan: From Miss India to UPSC Success

In a remarkable interview, Taskeen Khan shares her journey of perseverance and determination in conquering the UPSC examination. At the age of 25, Taskeen secured the 736th rank in the UPSC 2022 exam, following four attempts and a series of challenges.

Originally hailing from Uttarakhand, Taskeen Khan initially aspired to be Miss India. However, circumstances led her to change her career path based on her parents’ advice, redirecting her focus towards the civil service. Before her UPSC preparation, Taskeen achieved accolades as Miss Dehradun and Miss Uttarakhand in 2016 and 2017, respectively. With a strong academic background, she studied science from the 1st to the 12th grade at Kendriya Vidyalaya Ordinance Factory, Dehradun, and completed her BSc with excellent marks from Dayanand Brijendra Swarup College, Dehradun.

Despite struggling with math until the 8th grade, Taskeen’s dedication, aided by a supportive teacher who provided free tuition, helped her overcome her weaknesses. Alongside her studies, Taskeen excelled in extracurricular activities, including basketball, national debating, acting, modeling, and participating in international events.

Taskeen’s unique journey in UPSC preparation began when she stumbled upon information about the exam through a follower on social media. Motivated by the possibilities, she researched extensively and decided to pursue this career option. With the encouragement of her parents, Taskeen enrolled in coaching centers such as Hajj House in Mumbai and Jamia RCA in Delhi. Despite facing challenges, including her father’s hospitalization and financial constraints, Taskeen persisted with the unwavering support of mentors and institutions like the Atiya Foundation and SERVOKON Foundation.

In her message to students, Taskeen emphasizes the importance of parental support, determination, and resilience. She credits her success to hard work, highlighting the significance of serving others and the nation. Taskeen’s story serves as an inspiration to all aspiring civil servants, reminding them that difficulties and struggles are part of the journey towards achieving their goals.
