The state government had previously announced that the application window for Gruha Lakshmi scheme would be open from June 15 to July 15, with the scheme’s launch scheduled for August 15. During Lakshmi Hebbalkar first visit to Mysuru as minister, Hebbalkar paid a visit to Chamundi Hills and participated in a puja. However, Gruha Lakshmi scheme scheme has been temporarily halted by the government in order to ensure a streamlined and corruption-free process, as stated by Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar on Friday. To address the obstacles hindering the rollout of the scheme, the deputy CM held discussions with Hebbalkar, Revenue Minister Krishna Byregowda, and Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Minister Priyank Kharge.

Hebbalkar explained that the main reason for introducing a dedicated app for this scheme was to eliminate any potential involvement of middlemen. Through the app, beneficiaries would have the ability to directly apply for the scheme’s benefits. She emphasized that beneficiaries would not be required to make any payments during the application process. Simply receiving an acknowledgement of application submission would be sufficient to receive the scheme’s benefits, and there would be no time limit for submitting the applications.

The government’s decision to temporarily pause the scheme reflects its commitment to ensuring transparency and accountability. By implementing an app-based application system, they aim to prevent any intermediaries from exploiting the process. This move is expected to provide direct access to the scheme’s benefits for eligible beneficiaries, without any monetary burden.
