India’s Space Odyssey: Unity in Achieving Stellar Success

Union Minister Anupriya Patel emphasized that India’s remarkable journey in space exploration, spanning over six decades, stands as a testament to the collective efforts of various governments and generations of dedicated scientists. Speaking in the Lok Sabha during a discussion on the achievements in the space sector, Patel underlined that these accomplishments not only showcase India’s technical prowess but also promise to boost economic development.

Patel proudly stated that India has emerged as a prominent player in space missions, significantly elevating its global reputation in space exploration and scientific research. India now joins the exclusive club previously occupied by only the US, Russia, and China.

She expressed confidence that India’s contribution to the global space economy, presently standing at two to three percent, will surge to eight to ten percent within a decade. Furthermore, Patel highlighted the broader impact of space technology, with 140 start-ups in the space sector and its integration into the functioning of 60 ministries and departments. Space technology is also instrumental in improving the governance of various schemes, including MNREGA and AMRUT.

Joining the discussion, Hema Malini, Member of Parliament from Mathura, commended the significant role played by women scientists in the success of the Chandrayaan-3 mission. She believed that this space achievements would inspire a new generation of women scientists to reach for the stars.
