Alankrutha Chandra and Meher Gundavarum made a life-altering decision to adopt a sustainable lifestyle, leaving their jobs in the United States to launch ‘Elephant In You,’ a Hyderabad-based brand that revolves around the fundamental aspects of human existence – food, clothing, and shelter.

Yearning for a toxin-free life, Alankrutha and Meher decided to make the move after the COVID-19 pandemic underscored the importance of living organically. Returning to India in 2021, they co-founded Elephant In You, a brand that focuses on sustainability in all aspects of life, from food and shelter to clothing.

Alankrutha initially delved into the realm of sustainable fashion due to her own skin allergies triggered by chemical dyes commonly found in clothes. After discovering the art of natural dyeing, which has its roots in India, she decided to learn the craft and returned to her homeland in 2021 to do so. Collaborating with NGOs and farmers, she now creates clothing using unbleached organic fabric and natural dyes.

The couple’s journey didn’t stop at clothing; they also integrated organic farming into their venture. Utilizing Meher’s family-owned 8-acre farm, they introduced natural and organic farming practices, cultivating a wide variety of fruits, vegetables, pulses, and more. The farm is open for visitors to learn about organic farming and enjoy a taste of farm life.

Their brand’s next chapter involves providing eco-friendly stays on the farm, emphasizing the importance of authentic, sustainable living. Named ‘Elephant In You’ after the ecosystem-balancing behavior of elephants, Alankrutha and Meher aim to inspire a harmonious coexistence with nature, advocating for sustainability in a world where it’s increasingly essential to give back to the environment.
