My Mother
When I thought of writing about my mother it took me a while, I sat down and thought of everything right from my childhood. Many memories just flashed into my mind. And I realized I was so lucky to have a mother like her.
My mother was the third child in her family. She has told about many of the difficulties that she had to face right from her childhood. As a teenager, she as well as her siblings had to do most of the work at home and of course, people struggled a lot during those times. She completed her schooling and joined nursing. At the age of 22, she completed her degree and worked for a year.
At the age of 21, she lost her father. At the age of 23, she got married. At the age of 25, she became a mother. All these times weren’t so easy for her to handle but she stood strong. After marriage, she took a gap of 9 years from her career but she never stopped thinking about it. She always had a determination to have a job. Nine years later she took the PSC exam and got qualified as a Nurse in the Government Service. From then to now she has been working for the people with all her heart! And I must say, for the past year she worked restlessly for Corona patients too. I am proud of her!
My mother is the most hardworking person I have ever seen. Let it be in the hospital or the home, she works restlessly. Well, it’s her bad luck that she has got the laziest daughter! She always used to say, “I wished for a baby girl when I was pregnant for the second time. But I never thought she would be this lazy”. I always loved to hear this, even though the second phrase is a little embarrassing for me. She knows everyone in the family so deeply, our likes, dislikes, our strengths, our weaknesses, everything she knows and she does her best to make us happy.
In our childhood, she was a little strict with us. Me and my brother always used to get scolded by her for all our mischief. I always remember me shouting “Mamma!” during all the fights with my brother. Even now I do the same. She used to say that I was a little stubborn and she used to correct me every single time. Now, when I think of it, I am so thankful for what she did, for teaching me all those lessons and making me who I am right now. For teaching us how to be well-behaved, how to be polite, and how to sort out things.
At this age of mine, she is more like a friend to me. Someone who is always there for me. Someone whom I can always reach out to. I don’t know how to explain the bond between us. We don’t say how much we love each other, or how much we care for each other but deep inside we know that we are so attached. When I leave to hostel there will be a daily call, from no one but only my mother.
She is an inspiration for me in many ways. She has always taught me how to be calm and how to think wisely during trouble. I am always inspired by the way she manages things so perfectly. She is a person who always needs things to be done in so orderly. I felt many similarities between us. The way we look, the way we talk, the way we think. And I wish that I could be a great daughter like her, a loving wife like her, and a caring mother like her. We fight, we argue, we mess up but in the end, I always loved to be her baby girl and hug her so tightly.
I love you, mom!
