Heather Dubrow’s top advice for raising LGBTQ+ kids
Heather Dubrow’s summer is incredibly busy. Along with the return of The Real Housewives of Orange County, premiering on Bravo on July 11 at 9 p.m. ET with a special episode, she’s managing a new wine collaboration and launching a fashion line. The fashion line, featuring stylish basics, is a partnership with New York designer Susan Bender, which she recently previewed on Instagram.
In June, Dubrow focuses heavily on her advocacy for the LGBTQ+ community, especially during Pride Month. This cause is very personal for her and her husband, Terry Dubrow, a well-known plastic surgeon from Botched. Three of their four children—Max (20), Nick (20), Kat (17), and Ace (13)—identify as LGBTQ+, making this work deeply meaningful to their family. To support this community, Dubrow partnered with Equality Vines to create a line of sparkling wines, with proceeds going to Family Equality, a nonprofit promoting LGBTQ+ equality.
This new wine will appear in the upcoming season of RHOC, where Heather joins Shannon Storms Beador, Tamra Judge, Gina Kirschenheiter, Emily Simpson, Jennifer Pedranti, and newcomer Katie Ginella. Former cast member Alexis Bellino also returns, stirring drama with her new relationship with Beador’s ex, John Janssen.
In a Parade interview, Heather discussed the upcoming season and maintaining her children’s privacy in the public eye. She explained her partnership with Equality Vines, noting her long-standing support of Family Equality and committing to donate all proceeds from the wine line.
Heather, a proud mother of four, reflected on her children’s coming out experiences, emphasizing that it didn’t change her parenting style. “For me, it was about creating an environment where they felt comfortable talking about anything,” she shared.
She advised parents of LGBTQ+ youth to listen and support their children’s exploration of identity. “If they need a label or want to change it, that’s okay. Nothing is irreversible.”
Balancing public life and family privacy, Heather hopes that showcasing her family can help others. Season 18 promises excitement, drama, and insight into Heather’s advocacy efforts for the LGBTQ+ community.
