Paris Olympics: Team GB Claims Third on Day 7
On a triumphant seventh day at the Paris Olympics, Team GB surged to third place in the overall medal standings, securing five medals, including three golds. China and the USA remain the only nations ahead in the rankings.
The day began with success in the water, as British athletes claimed three medals in rowing and diving. Emily Craig and Imogen Grant captured gold in the women’s lightweight double sculls, while Ollie Wynne-Griffith and Tom George narrowly missed the top spot, securing a silver in the men’s pair event. The diving duo, Anthony Harding and Jack Laugher, added a bronze in the men’s 3m synchro springboard, marking a historic achievement with GB podium finishes in all four diving events so far.
The trampoline event witnessed Bryony Page winning gold with a score of 56.480, completing her set of Olympic medals after previous successes in Rio and Tokyo. Meanwhile, in equestrian team jumping, Scott Brash’s flawless performance clinched gold for Britain—their first in this event since the 2012 London Games.
Team GB now boasts a total of 25 medals: nine golds, eight silvers, and eight bronzes. In athletics, Josh Kerr and Neil Gourley advanced in the 1500m, while Dina Asher-Smith, Daryll Neita, and Imani-Lara Lansiquot moved on from their 100m heats. However, Morgan Lake faced disappointment in the women’s high jump, failing to qualify for the final.
As the Paris Olympics progresses, Team GB’s strong showing across various disciplines highlights their preparedness and resilience, with more promising events scheduled for the coming days.
