In a harrowing incident in Gujarat’s Chhotaudepur district, six courageous schoolgirls aged 15-17 escaped a potential molestation attempt by jumping off a moving truck. The horrifying incident unfolded as they were returning home from school, covering a distance of 5 km.

Details of the incident reveal that the girls, hailing from a village in Sankheda taluk, boarded a pick-up truck for their journey home. To their dismay, the driver and five other men on the truck not only robbed them of their money and belongings but also subjected them to an attempted molestation.

Facing this grave danger, the quick-thinking girls decided to take matters into their own hands. They started jumping off the speeding truck, forcing the driver to lose control, veering off-road. The incident unfolded on the internal road of the Sankheda Taluk, resulting in the girls sustaining minor injuries. Fortunately, their courageous act thwarted the assailants, and five of the six men managed to flee the scene.

Law enforcement acted swiftly, apprehending the owner of the truck, identified as Ashwin Bhil, who sustained injuries during the incident. An FIR has been registered against all six men, including the driver Suresh Bhil, and charges under the Protection of Children Against Sexual Offence (POCSO) and robbery have been levied.

The eldest of the girls, aged 17, filed the complaint that led to the legal actions against the accused. The other five men, identified as Arjun Bhil, Paresh Bhil, Sunil Bhil, Shailesh Bhil, remain at large.

The injured girls were promptly taken to the hospital, where they received medical attention and are now reported to be out of danger.

This incident underscores the urgent need for measures to protect children from sexual offences and highlights the bravery exhibited by the young girls in escaping a potentially life-altering situation.
