Italian Bridal Business Achieves Guinness Record: 50,000+ Crystals Adorn Wedding Dress
Italian bridal shop Michela Ferriero has broken the Guinness World Record for the most crystals on a wedding dress with a stunning gown that features over 50,000 Swarovski crystals sewn onto it. The record-breaking dress, which made its debut at the Si Sposaitalia Collezioni fashion show in Milan on April 14, 2023, took four months of preparation to create.
According to the GWR official website, the crystals were first stitched into the tulle base of the dress before being added to the crystal fringes on the bodice, the gloves, and finally the crystal chains on the back to provide a cascade of light. The detailed process took 200 working hours to complete each crystal.
The custom-made dress features a form-fitting silhouette, a sweetheart neckline, and a transparent material, with even the gloves encrusted with gems. The Italian bridal business, Michela Ferriero, specializes in luxury and bespoke wedding dresses and puts together a team of experts to make the dress, including a pattern maker and a crew of seamstresses.
The previous record was held by Turkish company Zden Gelinlik Moda Tasarim Ltd. in 2011, with a total of 45,024 crystals on their wedding dress.
Michela Ferriero said that the biggest and most difficult ambitions can come true when you have the people you love at your side. The breathtaking gown is a testament to the beauty and creativity of the bridal fashion industry, pushing the boundaries of what is possible with intricate designs and attention to detail.
