Hollywood actress Mischa Barton is set to star in the revival of the iconic Australian soap Neighbours. The series is returning to screens this year with a fresh storyline, and the streaming giant Amazon will be the new platform for the show. Barton will play the role of Reece, an American character with a complex
and mysterious persona. Executive producer Jason Herbison expressed his excitement over Barton’s casting, saying that her presence would be instant and unpredictable. The British-born actress rose to fame with her role as Marissa Cooper in the teen drama The OC from 2003 to 2006 and has also acted in
various Hollywood movies such as The Sixth Sense and Notting Hill.

Barton also shared her enthusiasm about joining the iconic show in a statement, saying she was delighted to be part of the next chapter and looking forward to being back in Australia, a place she knows and loves. Along with Barton, the revival will feature original cast members Rebekah Elmaloglou, Tim Kano, Georgie Stone, and Annie Jones. The show’s veterans, including Ian Smith, Melissa Bell, and April Rose Pengilly, will also return for guest roles.

Neighbours‘ has been an Australian television icon since 1985, and its finale last year was a much-heralded event, featuring the return of early career appearances by various stars, including Kylie Minogue, Guy Pearce, and Jason Donovan.
