As “House of the Dragon” finishes its second season, fans are already looking forward to what comes next. HBO gave the green light for Season 3 in June 2024, but viewers might need to be patient. Like the gap between the first two seasons, it could be another two years before new episodes air.

Luckily, George R.R. Martin’s book “Fire & Blood” gives us plenty of clues about the upcoming story. Season 3 is set to dive into some of the most exciting parts of the book, with one big event taking center stage: the Battle of the Gullet.

This fierce sea battle is one of the bloodiest in the history of Westeros. It all starts with Corlys Velaryon’s ships blocking supplies from reaching King’s Landing. The Greens, led by Aegon II, are desperate to break this blockade. Their people are starving, and they need to win back support.

As Season 3 begins, we’ll likely see the Greens trying to end the blockade with help from the Triarchy. But things don’t go as planned, and it all ends in disaster. Even though Corlys Velaryon’s forces take heavy losses, they manage to keep their ships in place.

This battle isn’t just important for the war – it’s personal too. Rhaenyra Targaryen loses her brother Jacaerys Velaryon in the fight, along with his dragon Vermax. It’s a turning point that will change everything.

Fans can expect Season 3 to bring these dramatic moments to life, staying true to the book while adding its flair. With epic battles and heartbreaking losses on the horizon, the next chapter of this Targaryen family drama promises to be as thrilling as ever.
