How to Create Your Perfect Home Office in One Weekend

1. Decide Where it Will Go
First of all, if you’re going to pull together your dream home office or writing space in just one weekend, you need to decide where it will go. Hopefully, you already have an idea, as this will make the process so much quicker, but if not, that’s okay. Think about where you already have some kind of study or spare room available. Maybe you even have a garage, basement, or attic space that you’re not using. Make sure that you choose somewhere that will help you to feel motivated when you’re in it.
2. Create the Shell of the Room
When you’re ready to go, the first thing you need to do is clear the space. Let’s be honest, none of us is going to have a completely empty room that is currently unused and just sitting there waiting to be transformed into a workspace! So, once you’ve chosen the perfect location, you need to clear the room. Get someone like Red Dog Dumpsters to deliver a unit so that you can throw out any old stuff. This might take you half a day or so (or maybe you’ll be organized and do this the day before so that you’re ready to begin on Saturday morning), and you may need to relocate stuff around the house or donate items to charity.
3. Choose Your Decor
When the room is clear and ready to go, the fun can begin. Start by choosing your decor. Again, if you’ve been dreaming of this, you may already have study ideas saved on Pinterest or cut out of magazines. So your next port of call is to go and grab your paint or other decorative pieces and get to work. Hopefully, your room is small so that you can get the painting done in an afternoon!
4. Get Set Up
When the room is ready, the next thing you need to do is set the space up. Now, this one can be a little tough, as you’ll actually need all the furniture you want sat ready and waiting to either be built and installed or moved straight into the room. Again, this might be something you want to do in advance. Take a look at the perfect writing desk and chair, and get it ordered ahead of time if you haven’t already. Then on Sunday, you can spend your time putting it all together!
5. Let the Work Begin!
Once your room is set up and your working situation is in place, you only have two jobs left. First, you need to accessorize it. Think cushions and artwork, photographs and a coffee machine! Last, you need to get to work. While it may have felt like quite the rush getting everything together over the weekend, it will be well and truly worth it when you’re ready to get your work underway!
