India made history at the 95th Academy Awards in 2023 by winning the Best Original Song and Best Documentary Short Film awards. The song “Natu Natu” from the Telugu film RRR won the Best Original Song award, and singers Rahul Sipligunj and Kaala Bhairava’s performance of the song at the ceremony had the live audience grooving to its peppy tune. Actress Deepika Padukone introduced the duo to the stage prior to their performance, and Lauren Gottlieb danced to the song, adding a vibrant touch to the environment.
The duet received the loudest cheer from the present audience, including composer MM Keeravaani and actors Ram Charan and NTR Jr.
Rahul Sipligunj took to social media to share his excitement regarding his performance, calling it an unforgettable moment in his life. The song had also won a Golden Globe Award prior to this.
“Natu Natu” was originally composed by MM Keeravani for RRR, with lyrics penned by Chandrabose. The song showcased the pride of local pulsating beats to the British officials through a dance-off between the lead characters Ramaraju (Ram Charan), Bheem (NTR Jr), and supporting role Edward (Edward Sonnenblick) and was shot at the Mariinskyi Palace in Kyiv, Ukraine, in August 2021.
