Kamala Harris Begins Pennsylvania Tour Focused on Leadership, Economy

Vice President Kamala Harris recently visited Pennsylvania as part of her campaign tour with Minnesota Governor Tim Walz. They started by making phone calls to supporters at campaign offices in Erie and Beaver County. Harris also spoke with local Democrats and promised to visit one supporter in Erie next time she’s in town.

Harris emphasized the importance of voting in the upcoming election, which she described as “the most important of our lifetime.” Importantly, she highlighted that true leadership is about lifting others up, not putting them down. Although she didn’t mention anyone by name, it was clear she was drawing a contrast between her leadership style and that of former President Donald Trump.

As the day continued, Harris and her team met with volunteers in Rochester, Pennsylvania, where she encouraged them to keep working hard for their shared values. Together with Gov. Walz, his wife Gwen, and her husband, Doug Emhoff, Harris took turns making phone calls to rally more supporters and boost involvement in the campaign.

One of the key issues Harris discussed was the economy. Specifically, she has proposed expanding the child tax credit, which many parents, including Emily Best, appreciate. Best, who lives in Europe but votes in Pennsylvania, shared that the child tax benefit she received during the pandemic was a big help. Similarly, Harris’ economic policies also resonated with people like Michael Kinney, who is concerned about rising rent prices. He believes Harris’ focus on tackling corporate landlords is an important step in the right direction.

In Pittsburgh, Harris kicked off the “Harris-Walz” bus tour, which is a significant part of her campaign through western Pennsylvania. The bus, painted in red, white, and blue, carries the slogan “A New Pathway Forward.” Before boarding, Harris, Walz, and their spouses posed for selfies with supporters, further energizing the crowd. As the Democratic National Convention (DNC) kicks off this week in Chicago, Harris and Walz will outline their vision for the country and how they plan to win the upcoming election. The theme of the convention, “For the People,” will also feature a keynote speech from President Joe Biden.
