After graduating from the United States Naval Academy, Williams became a naval aviator, flying helicopters and later transitioning to the NASA Astronaut Corps.
Defying Gravity
Williams’ impressive career spans over two decades, with multiple missions under her belt. Her first space mission was in 2006, aboard the Space Shuttle Discovery. She spent 195 days on the International Space Station (ISS), setting a record for the most time spent in space by a woman.
