Kerala Makes History: Transgender Nursing Reservations
Kerala’s government made history by giving reservations to transgender students studying BSc nursing courses in the state. Health Minister Veena George said one seat each would be reserved for transgender students in BSc nursing and General Nursing courses. This is the first time such reservations have been introduced in nursing for transgender people. The government aims to uplift the transgender community and ensure their representation in the healthcare sector.
The move provides opportunities and equal representation for transgender students in the noble profession of nursing. It sets an example for other regions and promotes social equality and progress. The decision encourages more transgender individuals to pursue nursing careers, making Kerala more inclusive and compassionate.
