Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw Retires from Infosys Board, D Sundaram Appointed Lead Independent Director

Infosys, a leading Indian multinational corporation, announced the retirement of Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw, an accomplished businesswoman and founder of Biocon, as an independent director of the Board, effective March 22, upon completion of her tenure. Mazumdar-Shaw, who was appointed to the Infosys Board in 2014, served as the lead independent director in 2018 and played a significant role in the company’s nomination and remuneration committee and CSR committee.

The news was confirmed in a press release, which also stated that D Sundaram has been appointed as the lead independent director based on the recommendation of the company’s nomination and remuneration committee.

Sundaram has been a member of the Infosys Board since 2017, and his vast experience in finance and strategy has been a crucial catalyst for the company to realize its vision for the future. He is also a part of various committees on audit, risk management, stakeholders relationship, nomination and remuneration, and cybersecurity risk.

Nandan Nilekani, chairman of Infosys, expressed his gratitude towards Mazumdar-Shaw, stating that she had been a tremendous ally and amazing colleague on the Board. Mazumdar-Shaw’s retirement marks the end of an era, but her contributions will continue to inspire future generations of businesswomen.
