A women’s convention in Manipur has drawn attention to the grievances of women workers under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA). The convention brought together women workers, activists, and officials to discuss the challenges facing women who participate in the MGNREGA program.

The MGNREGA program is a government-sponsored program that provides employment opportunities to rural households in India. However, women workers under the program face a range of challenges, including low wages, limited access to training and resources, and discrimination and harassment in the workplace.

The women’s convention in Manipur highlighted these challenges and called on the government to take action to address them. The convention also provided a platform for women workers to share their experiences and to demand better working conditions and greater protections under the MGNREGA program.

The convention was attended by government officials, including the Minister of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, who pledged to address the concerns raised by the women workers. The officials acknowledged the important role that women play in the MGNREGA program and committed to taking steps to improve their working conditions and to address issues of discrimination and harassment.
