Union Finance Minister emphasizes the need for behavioural change to tackle climate change

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman addressed a World Bank-organized event on “Making it Personal: How Behavioural Change Can Tackle Climate Change,” emphasizing the impact of climate change on everyday life. She highlighted that climate change is affecting people from different angles and that it is important to create a shared commitment to adopt and promote environmentally friendly lifestyles through the Lifestyle for Environment (LIFE) initiative launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Sitharaman emphasized the need for repeated persuasion and influential people to talk about issues related to climate change, which can encourage people to adopt sustainable lifestyles. She also mentioned that advertising campaigns for mundane things catch the attention of people when top icons support the idea.
Additionally, Sitharaman spoke about India’s Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) and its contribution to targeted, efficient, and inclusive service delivery through innovative methods. She pointed out that DPI has enormous potential to benefit both the public and private sectors, even in challenging times like the present.
