Nutrition Crucial for Women’s Health: Governor
Governor Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan emphasized the role of nutrition in resolving women’s health issues during a roundtable conference at Raj Bhavan. The conference, attended by 25 prominent doctors from various medical disciplines in Telangana, aimed to formulate policy recommendations for the Indian Government.
Karuna Gopal, President of Futuristic Cities, highlighted the lack of women-related disease statistics in a global disease burden report from 2013, leading to increased efforts to understand women’s diseases. She expressed concern that female deaths from non-communicable diseases (NCDs) have nearly doubled, indicating unresolved health needs even after 75 years of Independence.
In another development, led by former V-P S Malla Reddy, submitted a memorandum to Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan. The memorandum sought her intervention and direction to protect public sector undertakings (PSUs) HMT and IDPL’s lands from alleged encroachments by private individuals.
