Rekha Jhunjhunwala, a successful Indian investor, had a Monday morning that was anything but daunting. In just 15 minutes of the stock market’s opening bell on Monday, Jhunjhunwala’s net worth increased by approximately Rs 400 crore. The positive performance of two stocks in her portfolio, Tata Motors, and Titan Company, caught the attention of stock market bulls, leading to a surge in their share prices.
This recent success adds to Jhunjhunwala’s achievements as an investor, including being listed as the top Indian entrant in the 2023 M3M Hurun Global Rich List and claiming the third spot on Forbes’ richest women list for 2022. These accolades demonstrate her skills as an investor and her ability to manage her late husband Rakesh Jhunjhunwala’s wealth and stock portfolio after his passing in August 2022.
During the October-December quarter of FY23, Jhunjhunwala held 4,58,95,970 shares of Titan Company and 5,22,56,000 shares of Tata Motors. In just 15 minutes of trading, Titan’s share price increased by Rs 50.25 per share, while Tata Motors’ share price increased by Rs 32.75 per share. This led to Jhunjhunwala earning a profit of approximately Rs 230 crore from Titan’s shares and Rs 170 crore from Tata Motors’ shares.
Jhunjhunwala’s success serves as an inspiration for women in the male-dominated field of finance and investing. Her ability to navigate the stock market and generate substantial returns showcases the potential for women to excel in this field.
