Rhea Chakraborty Expresses Concern About a ‘Fearful Atmosphere’ in Bollywood Regarding Her Hiring After the Drug Case: ‘The Influence of Trolls is…’
Actress Rhea Chakraborty acknowledges the lingering apprehension in the entertainment industry about hiring her after the notorious drug case involving her. Following the tragic death of her boyfriend Sushant Singh Rajput in June 2020, Rhea faced arrest by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in September 2020 related to a drug case. She spent 28 days in Byculla jail as an undertrial before being granted bail. Earlier this year, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) decided not to challenge her bail in the Supreme Court, providing judicial relief.
In a recent interview with Mid-Day, Rhea candidly addressed the industry’s hesitancy to hire her, stating, “I feel there is still a sense of fear on that front, but I’m hoping it normalizes soon. A lot of it has calmed down, and honestly, the power of trolls is gone.” Despite heavy trolling, Rhea returned to work earlier this year as a gang leader in the adventure reality show Roadies 19, marking a homecoming moment for the actress who began her career as a VJ for MTV.
Acknowledging her status as one of the most trolled personalities on social media, Rhea credits her family’s support for providing emotional and monetary strength during challenging times. Reflecting on her tumultuous experience, she noted, “I am still one of the most trolled people online. But in the eye of the storm, I saw kindness. I had friends rally behind me, and help me and my family emotionally and monetarily. That gave me strength.”
Rhea’s resilience shines through despite the controversies surrounding her, and she continues to navigate her career in the public eye.
