Haryana Teen Rhythm Sangwan Wins Bronze in ISSF World Cup Air Pistol Final

Haryana’s 19-year-old Rhythm Sangwan won the bronze medal in the women’s 10m air pistol final at the ISSF World Cup in Baku, Azerbaijan. Sangwan shot a score of 219.1 and finished behind two-time Olympic medallist Anna Korakaki of Greece, who won the gold, and four-time Olympic medallist Olena Kostevych of Ukraine.

 Sangwan’s father, Haryana Police DSP Narender Sangwan, used to allow her to wear an empty holster as a child since she was fascinated by his service revolver. He took her to a shooting range for the first time, and coach Vineet Kumar saw her potential to become a pistol shooter.

Sangwan missed the Paris Olympics quota for India in the 25m pistol event at the ISSF World Championships in Cairo last year, but she did not give up on her dreams. During training, Sangwan practiced precision in the 10m pistol training and also emphasized rapid-fire and dual matches, which helped her to win the bronze medal.

 Sangwan’s father expressed his pride in his daughter, stating that the bronze medal would have a pride of place in their cabinet. Sangwan’s story is an inspiration for young girls who aspire to break stereotypes and pursue their dreams.
