Nirmala Sitharaman’s daughter, Parakala Vangamayi, tied the knot in a simple ceremony held at their home in Bengaluru, Karnataka. The wedding, following Brahmin traditions, was attended by close friends and relatives, without the presence of any political leaders. Seers from Udupi Adamaru Mutt graced the occasion to bless the couple. The ceremony was conducted in the Vedic order of Adamaru Mutt.

Vangamayi, who works in the Books and Culture section of Mint Lounge’s features department, previously worked as a features writer for The Hindu. She holds a master’s degree in Journalism from Northwestern Medill School of Journalism.

Videos of the wedding captured Vangamayi dressed in a pink saree, while Prateek, her groom from Gujarat, donned a white shawl and pancha. Nirmala Sitharaman, the Finance Minister of India, was spotted wearing a blue saree paired with a vibrant orange blouse during the joyous occasion.

The wedding, marked by its simplicity and absence of political figures, allowed the family and their loved ones to celebrate the union in an intimate setting. The focus remained on the traditional rituals and blessings bestowed upon the newlywed couple.
