Sushma Seth Wins The META Lifetime Achievement Award 2023

Renowned theatre actor Sushma Seth has been awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Mahindra Excellence in Theatre Awards (META) 2023. The award recognizes Seth’s outstanding contributions to Indian theatre over a career spanning several decades.

Seth, who began her acting career in the 1960s, has appeared in numerous plays, films, and television shows. She is perhaps best known for her roles in popular Hindi films such as “Kabhie Kabhie” and “Mujhse Dosti Karoge,” but she has also been a regular presence on the Indian theatre scene, performing in plays in Hindi, English, and other languages.

The Lifetime Achievement Award is the latest in a long line of accolades for Seth, who has been recognized numerous times for her contributions to Indian theatre and cinema. In addition to her work as an actor, she has also been involved in theatre production and direction and has been a mentor to many young actors and theatre practitioners.

The Mahindra Excellence in Theatre Awards, now in its 18th year, is one of the most prestigious theatre awards in India. The awards aim to recognize and celebrate excellence in theatre across a range of
categories, including Best Play, Best Director, and Best Actor/Actress.

The META Lifetime Achievement Award, in particular, is reserved for individuals who have made a significant contribution to Indian theatre over a sustained period of time. Previous winners of the award include some of the most renowned theatre personalities in India, such as Zohra Sehgal, Girish Karnad, and Ebrahim Alkazi.

In accepting the award, Sushma Seth thanked the organizers of the META awards and spoke of the importance of theatre as an art form. She also paid tribute to the many colleagues and collaborators who had helped to shape her career over the years.
