The Busyness Trap: What’s Really Holding Women Back — And How I Overcame It
By Dr.CeeVee | CeeVee’s Corner | SheSight Magazine

If there’s one word I hear from women more than anything else, it’s this: “busy.”
Busy with work. Busy at home. Busy with children. Busy with in-laws. Busy with everything—except, sometimes, our own goals, growth, and joy.
Recently, during a SheHuddle session, I noticed something both familiar and unsettling. Several women joined with excitement—but some left midway, citing family needs. “Dinner to cook.” “Kids need me.” “Mother-in-law is unwell.” Honest reasons. Deeply real. But also… telling.
Meanwhile, the few men who joined? Stayed till the end. Focused. Present. Not because they had fewer responsibilities—but maybe because they prioritized their growth without guilt.
This isn’t about pointing fingers. It’s about holding a mirror up to something we’ve all silently accepted: Women are taught to serve first, dream later—if at all.
The Invisible Load We Carry
Many women live under the weight of invisible expectations. We’re conditioned to keep everything running—home, emotions, family harmony—like unpaid CEOs of our households.
So we stay “busy.”
Busy being available.
Busy pleasing.
Busy trying to be everything to everyone.
But here’s the truth I had to face in my own journey: Busy doesn’t always mean fulfilled. And it definitely doesn’t mean free.
My Wake-Up Moment
This weekend, while many were caught in weekend routines, I did something I’d been putting off for a while—I built and launched an entire platform from scratch: ShePower Club.
I used a no-code tool. No tech team. No excuses.
Was it easy? Not really. But it was possible—because I chose to clear out the noise and make space for what matters.
I stopped waiting for the perfect time.
I stopped trying to prove my worth through exhaustion.
I started asking: What am I really building with my time?
How I Broke the Busyness Trap
Here’s what helped me shift:
1. I Audited My Time
I looked at every hour of my week. You know what I found? Over 10 hours lost to things that didn’t serve my goals—scrolling, overdoing chores, unnecessary meetings.
2. I Gave Myself Permission
To say no. To delegate. To rest. To not be the only one holding everything together.
3. I Made “Me-Time” Non-Negotiable
Even 30 focused minutes a day can move mountains—if used with intention.
4. I Found My Circle
Women who are also saying “enough” to societal scripts. Who are ready to lead, build, and rise. This became the heartbeat of ShePower Club.
