Eating foods rich in antioxidants can help you live longer and avoid chronic diseases. Antioxidants are compounds found in foods that protect your cells from damage caused by harmful molecules called free radicals.

According to nutritionist Lovneet Batra, consuming an antioxidant-rich diet can elevate blood antioxidant levels, reducing oxidative stress and the associated risks.

Here are six antioxidant-rich foods:

Blueberries: Abundant in anthocyanins and various antioxidants, blueberries help reduce the risk of heart disease by improving cholesterol levels.

Artichokes: Rich in chlorogenic acid, artichokes provide fibre and antioxidants, lowering the risk of cancers, type 2 diabetes, and heart disease.

Goji berries: These delicious berries are known for their anti-ageing properties and potential health benefits, including aiding eye health and preventing age-related conditions.

Beans: High in antioxidants like kaempferol, beans combat chronic inflammation and inhibit cancer growth.

Beetroot: Loaded with betalains, a powerful antioxidant that fights cell damage, beetroot lowers the risk of colon and digestive tract cancers.

Spinach: Spinach is a source of lutein and zeaxanthin, which protect the eyes from harmful light wavelengths, particularly ultraviolet light.
