In a recent statement, Union Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances, and Pensions, Jitendra Singh, highlighted a significant increase in the recruitment of women in government jobs since 2014. He noted that fresh women recruitments in government positions have more than doubled over the past nine years, rising from approximately 6-6.25% to 12-13% of the total hires. This remarkable progress reflects the government’s commitment to empowering women and increasing their representation in the workforce.

Singh attributed this positive trend to the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and several key initiatives aimed at promoting gender equality and women’s participation in various sectors. He cited the Women’s Reservation Act, which has empowered women by ensuring 30% reservation in the Parliament and state legislatures. Additionally, Singh recognized the provision of commissioned ranks to women in the armed forces as a significant step forward.

Furthermore, the Minister emphasized that women have been entrusted with essential responsibilities in esteemed organizations like ISRO, underscoring their contributions in pivotal roles. In a recent development, the 10th Rozgar Mela showcased women’s increasing presence in government employment. Of the more than 50,000 fresh appointees, women accounted for 21%, marking a positive shift in the employment landscape.

In broader terms, out of over 6.48 lakh appointees during the last year’s 10 Rozgar Melas, more than 1.1 lakh were women employees, constituting 17% of the total fresh recruitment. The railway sector played a significant role in this recruitment drive, with the majority of fresh appointees coming from this domain.

During the 10th Rozgar Mela, Prime Minister Modi virtually distributed appointment letters to nearly 51,000 individuals who secured positions in various government departments. This event symbolized the government’s commitment to creating employment opportunities and furthering the goal of a developed India.

Additionally, Minister Jitendra Singh highlighted the progress made in connecting the Kashmir valley to the national rail network during PM Modi’s tenure. Notably, the construction of the world’s tallest rail bridge in the Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir was a significant achievement in this endeavor. Furthermore, Singh pointed out the substantial improvement in railway safety during the Modi administration, with the number of accidents dropping from an annual average of 171 before 2014 to 71 under the current leadership. These achievements demonstrate the government’s comprehensive approach to infrastructure development, employment generation, and women’s empowerment in India.
