“Pudhumai Penn Scheme”: Making Education Possible for Girls
Chief Minister Stalin’s “Pudhumai Penn Scheme” has successfully benefited over 156,000 girl students and will benefit another 104,347 girls in the next five months. This scheme aims to encourage girl students from Class 6 to 12 to continue their education by providing financial aid of INR 1,000 per month. The survey shows that this scheme has increased the enrollment rate of girls in colleges by 27%, and it also covers private school girls students under reservation.
The Pudhumai Penn Scheme is changing the lives of many girls from economically challenged backgrounds, making education possible for them. Under the scheme, students like Vishalini, a first-year ECE department student from a small village whose parents cannot afford her higher education, are getting the help they need to make a better future. The scheme also supports first-generation graduates like R. Latha Maheshwari, whose father is a daily wage Mason, and Kavitha, who lost her father but wanted to make his dream come true by pursuing higher education.
The scheme has enabled girls to pursue various courses, including online courses and expensive ones like engineering and computer science. It has also made higher education a reality for girls who may have never dreamed of attending college. Many students express their gratitude to CM Stalin and consider him a family member who has made education accessible to them.
The recent launch of “Pudhumai Penn 2.0” will benefit 104,347 more girl students. In the launch event, CM Stalin highlighted the importance of educating women for the welfare of the nation. The scheme is named after one of the great women leaders of the Dravidian movement, Moovalur Ramamirtham Ammaiyar, who was born into a poor family and had to be sold for INR Through this scheme, the government is working towards making everyone in the state equal through education without any discrimination of caste, religion, gender, financial status, or race.
