Speaking to reporters, the Health Minister stated that although the infection spread has not escalated, it is essential to exercise precautions. He further emphasized the importance of wearing masks to protect oneself, especially as Omicron sub-variants XBB and BA.2 are circulating in Tamil Nadu, India, and other parts of the world. The state government has also implemented random screenings for passengers arriving from other countries at airports. According to the Health Minister, 123 people have tested positive for COVID-19 in TN in the last 24 hours. The mandate is a significant step toward ensuring the safety of healthcare workers and patients in the state’s hospitals.
