Have you ever felt like…
I have joined back at the office, but I feel I am failing and I am not enough. I feel like quitting now?
You are not alone if you experience these.
While some of you have completed the first milestone of joining your careers after a break, it might happen that the initial journey is not comforting or peaceful as you have envisaged. You might have been facing the initial inertia of moving back to your previous routines, free periods, me time, spending quality time with your kids, family outings and so on.
Before you start feeling better, first get better at your feelings. Yes, the reality is quite different at this point of time.
Firstly, we need to make some conscious choices to prioritize getting back on the corporate bandwagon and letting go of your desire to do everything in your own way. Start trusting that the way you learnt how to manage family , others will also learn to manage as they are also undergoing through their learning curve. You now focus on Polishing your soft skills, using your social skills and also continuous tussle to prove your worth as you progress on this professional journey.
It is perfectly ok to face the flashes of self-doubts, feeling of not knowing enough or identifying some areas where you feel you need more help. Keep moving on, there are certain things which you can control and there are many which you can’t. Prioritize what you can control and remove guilt, fear and self-doubt on things you can’t control . It is ok to feel sometimes that you are not enough, obviously it is new terrain for you. As you have learnt the tricks of the trade initially, when you first went to the kitchen and started cooking. Think on how you perform like a pro chef and you can simultaneously cook 3 dishes and also answer your children’s queries. Similarly will be status once you get yourself comfortable in your new role.
Just have trust in your abilities, and keep adding value and make choices which make you closer to your goals on a daily basis. Focus only on the things which you can control. Here are some:
Your being
Your beliefs
Your attitude
Your perspective
Your being choice
How honest you are
What books you love to read
How often you exercise
How to treat yourself
How many risk you take
The type of food you eat
The type of food you love to eat
How kind you are to others
How kind you are to yourself
How you interpret your situations
How you express your thoughts
Whether or not you ask for help
How many times your smile today
Who do you associate yourself with?
What do you do with your spare time?
How often you spend or invest money
How often you say I love you to yourself
How much time you waste in worrying
The amount of effort you put forth
How often you think about your past
Whether or not you judge other people
How often you give time to appreciate your life
Whether or not you can try after setback
We must understand that struggle is an intrinsic part of life. Our problems are an important and inseparable ingredient of our lives. Every time things happen as we desire them to happen, it is not necessary. So, irrespective of the situation that we are in, the day we understand the importance of working towards our goal as success, we will learn how to live our life to the fullest.
Just change your definition of success as being a goal to incremental positive daily process.
Every memorable, loving story has a happy ending, this is the story of your own life. If you ever feel like going through hell don’t stop because who stops and wants to stay in hell? Till the time you create your own heaven, keep moving on . Be your own guiding angel and create an incredible happy ending for your life story . Remember ladies, your next generation is closely watching you and hence be wise in setting an example. Be the Shakti, have inner fire, feel the power and conquer your territory.
Lots of Wishes
