SLt. Kumudini Tyagi and SLt. Riti Singh
Indian women made yet another major strides, this time in military aviation in Navy and Air Force. Sub Lieutenant (SLt) Kumudini Tyagi and (SLt) Riti Singh are the two women officers who have been selected to join as ‘Observers’ (Airborne Tacticians) in the Indian Navy’s helicopter stream that would ultimately pave the way for women being posted in frontline warships. These officers are part of a group of 17 officers of the Indian Navy who were awarded “Wings” on graduating as “Observers” at a ceremony held recently in Kochi, INS Garuda. This is the first-time women are going to be trained in helicopter operations.
