Vox Media has announced that Miranda Kennedy, an experienced leader in audio journalism, will join the company as the executive producer for the brand’s flagship daily news podcast and radio show, Today, Explained. In her new role, Kennedy will lead the editorial team of Today, Explained, working alongside hosts Sean Rameswaram and Noel King to continue the show’s mission of explaining the news to audiences across the country. She will also help manage the public radio presence of Today, Explained, which is aired on local stations throughout the United States.

Kennedy comes to Vox from NPR, where she worked for more than 15 years as a reporter, editor, and supervisor. She was most recently the supervising senior editor for Morning Edition and Up First, where she set the editorial direction for the 2-hour broadcast show and daily news podcast. She also helped launch Up First, guiding the daily news podcast’s sound, style, and format. In addition, she reported on the war in Afghanistan, as well as culture and economics across South Asia for NPR and American Public Media’s Marketplace. Kennedy is also the author of the book Sideways on a Scooter: Life and Love in India.

Swati Sharma, Vox’s editor-in-chief, and Katherine Wells, the executive director for audio, expressed their excitement in having Kennedy join the Vox team. “Miranda is an experienced leader with a track record of excellence in audio journalism, and we could not be more excited to have her at Vox,” says Wells.
