Veteran singer Vani Jairam was found dead at Chennai home on 4th February 2023

Vani Jairam was born on 30th November 1945. She was a playback singer in the south
Indian Cinema. Her Spouse’s name is Jairam, he died in the year 2018. Vani Jairam
started her career in 1971. She has sung in several Indian languages such as
Kannada, Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Gujarati, Haryanvi, Tulu and
Bengali languages. She was a playback singer for one thousand movie songs
recording over Ten thousand songs.

National Award-winning legendary playback singer Vani Jairam, who also won Padma
Bhushan award – the third-highest civilian award — this year, was found dead at her
Chennai home on 4th February 2023. According to reports, she was found dead with an
injury on her forehead at her house on Haddows Road, Nungambakkam, in Chennai.
She was 78 years old.
Vani Jairam’s husband died a few years ago and she lived alone in the apartment.
According to reports singer’s maid turned up for work on 4th February 2023. When she
did not get any response despite repeated calls, the maid is said to have alerted her
relatives who then informed the police. According to reports, the cops broke
open the door and found her dead in the apartment.
Vani Jairam won the National Film Award for the best Female playback singer. She
also won State Government awards from the states of Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil
Nadu and Gujarat. In 2012 she was honored with a Filmfare Lifetime achievement
Award – South for her achievements in South Indian film music.
