Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat has expressed her dissatisfaction with the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) Olympic Committee (OC) for not fulfilling their promises. Phogat, a Commonwealth and Asian Games gold medalist, took to social media to share her frustrations, stating that she was left with no choice but to approach the court.

Phogat had requested the WFI OC to allow her personal physiotherapist to accompany her to the Tokyo Olympics 2021, but her request was denied. The WFI OC assured her that they would provide her with a physiotherapist in Tokyo, but the person appointed was not experienced enough to handle her injury. This resulted in Phogat receiving inadequate treatment, causing her to perform below her potential.

Phogat claims that the WFI OC has repeatedly failed to deliver on its promises, leaving her with no choice but to take legal action. She hopes that her decision will bring about positive change and prevent other athletes from experiencing similar issues in the future.

Phogat’s decision to take legal action against the WFI OC has sparked a debate about the treatment of athletes in India. Many have expressed their support for Phogat and are calling for better support and facilities for athletes, especially those representing the country on an international stage.
