My grandmother used to say, it rains nectar from the sky early in the morning. We should wake up early in the morning to bless ourselves with this shower of that nectar. I have never seen my grandmother sleep till after sunrise and as far as I remember she was very active till the last days of her life.

My father, no matter how ill he was or returned home late at night, used to get up before sunrise, and today even at the age of 80 he does all the household chores.

Elders used to say that morning studies go great and you never forget what you learn at that time of the day. Even today when I go for a walk in the mornings, the amazing view of the garden gives me immense pleasure. The cool fresh air fills my veins with freshness. The light warmth and pink soft light of the sun give me the feeling that darkness is running away from life and a new positivity is being born. My mind and body are filled with new energy. I feel like stopping this time to live a little more.

When I see today’s generation, no one wants to wake up early unless there is some compulsion like going to school/college. The Sun hits their head, but they don’t mind getting up at 11 am or 12 noon and sitting with some other screen. They want to see the world on that screen, regardless of what is happening around them. Today’s generation is violating the laws of creation of which they are a part.

The laws of creation tell us that we should get up before the Sun rises because The Sun is the God who runs this universe. If the Sun God is not there, no one will get the food as the food chain also starts with sunlight. The more we violate the rules of creation, the more we will be victims of mental and physical diseases.

Some sage Muni has also said that when life seems to be scattered, if you don’t understand the root of disease, then start from the basic rule- Early to bed and early to rise.

Some scientifically proven benefits of taking morning sunlight are:

  • It improves mood and mental health-Sunlight cues in special areas in the retina, which triggers the release of serotonin hormone, and low levels of serotonin are associated with a higher risk of major depression. Doctors too, use light therapy for the treatment of depression.
  • 15min-3 times-Follow this rule of spending 15 minutes 3 times a week to produce enough vitamin D in the body.
  • Sunlight heals many skin diseases like psoriasis, eczema, jaundice, and acne.
  • It supports heart health.
  • Sunlight improves brain functions.

On this women’s day, we the women should take a pledge that we will inculcate the habit of getting up early in the morning in our children and enable a healthy life for them. We too will spend a little romantic time with the rising Sun for a happy day and healthy life.

The one who runs the universe, our doctor God, let us salute him every day.
